Fighting Chance

Our Team

Our team is made up of people who volunteer their time, skills and effort to support our cause and we would not exist without their help. Here we acknowledge Fighting Chance Australia’s management team and consultants.

Laura O’Reilly is a graduate of the University of Cambridge and is currently studying postgraduate law at the University of New South Wales. She has worked with various not-for-profits for over 12 years, including the Global Poverty Project, Oxfam and Amnesty International. However, disability is Laura’s passion, born of a lifetime of watching the struggles and unquenchable spirit of her younger brother, who had cerebral palsy. Today Laura is the CEO and co-founder of Fighting Chance, and has spent the past two years working on innovate post-school program models for people with significant physical disabilities. Laura sits on the NSW Disability Council and, along with her brother Jordan, was the winner of the 2011 NSW Young Carer of the Year Award.

Jordan O’Reilly, 24, is a social entrepreneur with a passion for social justice and achieving equality for people with disabilities. It was Jordan’s experience as the sibling of someone with a profound disability that shaped his desire to work towards a brighter future for all Australian’s with disabilities and their families, and continues to inspire his efforts. Jordan now leads the work of Fighting Chance as the general manager, overseeing daily operations and volunteer management.
Jordan has four year’s experience working with disability service providers in Sydney and five year’s experience volunteering with various not-for-profits, both at home and abroad. Jordan was awarded the NSW Young Carer of the Year Award in 2011, the Rotary Community Service Award in 2012 and the Sydney University Faculty of Health Science Leadership award in 2013. Jordan is a graduate of the Young Social Pioneer program with the Foundation for Young Australians, and also sits on the 2012/13 Council of Future Health Leaders.
