Fighting Chance has been fortunate enough to be the recipients of several generous grants. The support of these organisations is invaluable to our future growth and expansion right across Sydney. We’d like to thank each organisation that has made a contribution to our programs for their important support and belief in what we do every day.
Balgowlah RSL Memorial Club has a long history of donating to the community, and this year focused on new partnerships that will directly assist in areas involving local youth, people with disability and those suffering from domestic violence. This year we are very excited to have received our first grant from Balgowlah RSL and look forward to being a part of their ongoing community impact. Their $20 000 grant to Fighting Chance will support 13 participants in our Work Experience program to gain necessary skills and opportunities for future employment.
We are the proud recipients of a 2016 Community Grant from CommBank, which also in support of our Work Experience program for young adults with disability. Their grant of $9965 will support 7 more participants to engage in our program which combines training and skills development (including IT skills, workplace skills and professional behaviour), with on-the-job practical experience of working within our two social enterprises.
Northern Beaches Council have given us a grant of $5000 to grow our innovative computer program The Lab, which is designed for people with Asperger’s Syndrome or high functioning Autism. The grant from Northern Beaches will enable us to extend the program beyond our current age group of 10 – 16 year olds and to include people from 17-24 years of age as well. The Lab offers a safe, social environment for young people to enjoy technology and receive tuition from IT professionals.
Fighting Chance received a grant of $2000 from Mosman Council at a community cheque presentation this week. The grant will assist our Avenue Fair Trade Interns and Work Experience participants to continue attending the regular Mosman Council markets. The Avenue market visits are an important chance for our participants with higher support needs to be productive and well-known members of our local community.
Thank you to all of these generous organisations who have supported our ongoing work!
