One of Fighting Chance’s first employees was Ray, who joined the Fighting Chance team as our IT coordinator back in 2011.
Ray’s role at Fighting Chance is to oversee our computer network and keep everyone else in the team online. Before joining Fighting Chance, Ray attended St Ives High, and went on to study IT at TAFE.
Ray was passionate about IT from a very young age, a career path he was inspired to follow by his father. “One day, my dad came home with a strange looking box that I have never seen before. I asked him “What is it, dad?” He opened it, and he said, “It’s a computer.” He showed me how to use it and showed me the way around the operating system. Since then, I have always been passionate and mind driven by computers and I.T, and how fast technology has changed since then.”
After leaving TAFE, Ray worked at CompNow, before being introduced to Fighting Chance by SEDs, a Disability Employment Agency for people with physical disabilities.
Ray now runs the Fighting Chance computer department, and it is very fair to say that everything at Fighting Chance would stop without him. “Fighting Chance is one of the best social enterprise company that anyone could ever work for, whether you have a physical disability or not”, says Ray. “It is a fantastic place to work at, with amazing staff and carers”.

So what’s the best thing about working at Fighting Chance? “The environment of laughter, calmness, energy, and most importantly, support all around”, says Ray.
Although it is hard to imagine Fighting Chance without him, the Fighting Chance team have huge belief in Ray’s abilities, and the things he will achieve in the future. “I would like to work for a corporate computer company like Microsoft or Dell” says Ray. “My career goal is to start my own computer company, become a CEO, and start building future computer products, selling them, and make profit from it.”
Knowing Ray, the sky is the limit.
